Health & Human Services Committee

Mission:

To provide health related information in a welcoming backdrop with the ability to provide health information, when needed, in one of the 13 major languages in India.

Specific Roles and Responsibilities:

• Identify, plan, and implement professional medical seminars

• Arrange health seminars/fairs, bone marrow and blood drives.

• Arrange CPR training and vaccination clinics

•  Create, maintain, and communicate an outreach program consisting of professional volunteers from which the needy can benefit.

Composition of HHS:

This is a collegial group made of fifteen plus regular volunteers, most of them have advanced degrees and in health
related fields.

HHS works closely with our Temple Youth Committee (YC). YC provides HHS with motivated school students in 11-12 Grades (in general) that provide help on multiple ways.

HHS has conducted several American Red Cross Blood drives, four a year for 15 years and they held every 90 days. In these drives we have had a large number of mainstream citizens. Our Temple devotees are consistent blood donors.
HHS is pleased to inform, at the peak of Covid19 we had four drives (houseful were two of them) maintaining very rigid preventive protocols. When we needed a Hall for drive (B.T.’s hall being unavailable) we had full cooperation from the Chalfont United Methodist Church and Montgomery Square United Methodist Church which HHS & BT greatly appreciate.

Award: HHS received in 2015 Heroes of American Red Cross Bucks County.

Proclamations: (Two) from the Pennsylvania State for Red Cross Award 2015 and Bucks County.

During the Peak of covid19, during 2021 we had six vaccination drives with cooperating pharmacies, helped over 3500 individuals vaccinated.

Besides the Red Cross Drives, we had over 20+ Family-Friends CPR Trainings around 175 plus devotees had hands on learning experience.

HHS has worked cooperatively with the American Cancer Society (Asian Health Care), Grand Valley Hospital (Breast Cancer), Abington-Jefferson Hospital (Health Fair & Diabetes Care), Immigration Advice and Social Security Advice, and many more programs. HHS work uses Social Media to publicize our programs. How to contact HHS is provided in all the different program flyers. Kindly look at the links to the pictures reflecting HHS work.
